I will be one of the presenters/demonstrators at a Stylized Creature Design Workshop hosted by Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Games, & Animation in Hollywood, CA. The event is free and open to the public. Can't make it to Hollywood? The event will also be livestreamed!

"I believe our creative potential to be infinite, but only if we are good stewards to our imagination and overall health. This means, in part, taking time to play and replenish the well of your imagination by keeping your eyes, ears, and heart open to receiving new experiences. Soak it in!"
For those of you who are celebrating Halloween, I hope you don your fangs with aplomb, wear your clown wigs and zombie masks with pride, trick-or-treat with gusto, and carve your Jack-O-Lanterns with the precision of Hannibal Lecter and the intensity of Norman Bates. Be safe and have fun!
Time flies when you're having fun and much fun has certainly been had! And time has, indeed, flown by as well.
It's hard to believe, but March 31st, 2016 marked the completion of ten years of the Daily Zoo. Little did I know what I was getting myself into when I drew that blue-footed booby on Day 001 (as seen here) way back in 2006!
I will forever be grateful for "keeping the doctor at bay with a drawing a day" as it has been rewarding and therapeutic on so many levels. The people, the stories, and the experiences have made this a most memorable journey so far - and I'm excited to have it continue!
Out of curiosity I decided to see just how ten years of daily sketches stacks up, as seen at right: not quite as tall as me, but about twice as high as my three-year-old.
This Sunday afternoon, May 15th, I will be sharing the story and art of the Daily Zoo at the Vroman's Bookstore Hastings Ranch location. The fun starts at 3PM and will be followed by a book signing. If you're coming and planning on having a book signed, start thinking about what animal you'd like me to sketch in your copy!

Please note that this event is at the Hastings Ranch location, not the main Vroman's on Colorado Blvd.
Last fall I was commissioned by the arts & crafts magazine The Sewing Box to create an illustraton for the cover of their latest issue. It was fun to imagine what I might do if I were a sheep who yearned for yarn.
Daily Zoo fan Andrea ordered a book last fall and requested that I sketch a ferret for her, since she had one as a pet. I recently received this photo along with a note that said her four-legged companion, Amelie, approved of the drawing. So there you have it: The Daily Zoo, now ferret approved!
